Who is Andrew Carnegie?
Andrew Carnegie was born on November 25, 1835 in Dunfermline, Scotland. He was the son of William Carnegie, a handloom weaver. His mother was Margaret Morrison, a tanner and shoe maker. Andrew Carnegie lived through extreme poverty due to the factory system adopted in the linen indurstry. In order to escape, the family borrowed money from Margaret's childhood friends and immigrated to New York City. There, William was emplyed in a cotton factory and Andrew worked as a bobbin boy.
Later, Andrew Carnegie would grow up to work in the largest industries in the world and become a prominent leader in American Industry.
